My review…
I love dolphins, so that in itself interested me in this movie. The fact that it’s a family friend movie helped seal the deal.
Fourteen-year-old Annabel Coulter has lived with her grandfather, Jonah, on his fishing boat since her parents died in a tragic accident ten years ago. She’s content, and everyone on the island loves her. And her best friend just happens to be a dolphin named Mitzy!
Her maternal grandparents are determined to gain custody and move Annabel back to New York with them. It will be up to Jonah, Mitzy, and Annabel’s (human!) friend Mateo, along with his social worker mother, will do all they can to help Annabel stay where they all know she belongs.
Mitzy totally steals the show! She shows viewers just how intelligent dolphins are. The cast is diverse, which I appreciated, and the tranquil island setting is beautiful! (Especially since I viewed this during winter!) Mr. Carbunkle, the lawyer doing all he can to help Annabel’s grandparents gain custody, seems a bit out of place at times and is easy to dislike. I wish a bit more backstory on Annabel’s parents and grandparents had been provided earlier in the movie, as it does take quite some time for that to all come out. Things do wrap up a bit neatly at the end, after a precarious situation helps people discover what’s best for everyone, but it’s a charming, fun, family friendly movie. Also, there isn’t any drinking, smoking, or swearing.
At the core, Dolphin Island is a tale of courage, forgiveness, love, and faith. It’s the winner of Best Feature Film – Christian Film Festival 2021, and it’s Dove-approved for all ages!

I love dolphins. So I know that I will love this movie. Sounds like a wonderful movie
It really is a wonderful movie, and Mitzi (the dolphin) is adorable!
I’m sure I’d enjoy it. I’ve watched other ones like Zeus and Roxanne and Flipper.
Those are good movies. If you liked them, I think you’ll like this one, as well, Michelle.
I’m always interested in family-friendly movies! Thanks for the opportunity to win a digital link to the movie!
I agree! You’re very welcome, Deena!
