Hope-filled Sunday!Â
Happy Sunday! Here’s some encouragement for your week.
I know the importance of getting a good night’s sleep. Sadly, sleep often eludes me, and it’s been a problem for years. If my pain isn’t preventing me from getting comfortable or falling asleep, then my overactive mind is. My mind loves to replay the day/month/year with all the ways I could’ve done something differently or envision a variety of what-if scenarios. Perhaps you can relate.
Logically, I know that my worries and brooding are counterproductive. They won’t change one part of the plan that God has for my life. However, they will have a negative impact on my chronic pain. Instead, God calls us to focus on the positive things in life (see Phil. 4:8). I try to incorporate this into every day via a gratitude journal I write in each night.
There are so many blessings in our lives that we often miss or overlook, either because we’re too busy or we think they’re small and insignificant. If we stop to think about our day, we’re likely to remember the caring phone message from a friend, the beauty of the changing seasons, or the funny thing a pet or child did that puts a smile on our face.
It's important to remember that God is always in control. Share on X However, I know that it can sometimes be easier said than done. When stress and fear try to hijack our minds, we can release them to God. He wants up to have a joyful day followed by a good night’s sleep. And one way to do that is to release our concerns to God and accept the peace that only He can provide.
Lord, thank You for the gift of rest. Help me accept that gift by trusting You with my cares and concerns. Amen.
Have a blessed day. Gentle hugs to all of you. ?
