Hope-Filled Sunday!
Happy Sunday! Here’s some encouragement for your week.
Have you ever noticed that some people seem to encounter problems because they feel they must do everything on their own or it won’t get done right? Those people are often considered perfectionists. Can you see yourself in that description?
In Exodus 18, Moses was described as a dedicated, responsible person. He was the sole person response for the people and their numerous questions. His father-in-law, Jethro, pointed out that the way he was living wasn’t working for him. “The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone.” Moses was encouraged to focus on the big-picture problems and appoint trusted people to handle the smaller matters (Exodus 18:19-23). His father-in-law helped Moses see that he couldn’t do it all on his own. In fact, God didn’t expect him to. And you know what? God doesn’t expect us to do it all on our own, either.
When we get overwhelmed, it can lead to stress, burnout, depression, and more. So if you find yourself exhausted because you’re trying to do everything by yourself, as well as do everything for those around you, please listen to the wise words Jethro told Moses. It’s okay to ask for help! Ask God for the wisdom and strength to do what He's asking you to do—those things He's calling you and you alone to do. Share on X And then ask for His help in releasing the other tasks that truly aren’t yours to carry. Don’t try to do it all by yourself.
Lord, help me to focus on the calling You have placed on me and my life. Amen.
