Happy Sunday! Here’s some encouragement for your week.

2 Timothy 4:7 NLT

Athletes train for years to participate in marathons. They know what to expect going into a race.

There are other marathons in life that aren’t as clear cut. Life with chronic pain and illness is a marathon in itself. It, too involves lots of training—physically and emotionally. Unfortunately, even with that training, things don’t always go as expected in the marathon known as chronic illness.

Roadblocks pop up when they’re least expected. They surprise us and throw us off course.

Today’s verse was written by Paul. He was very familiar with life’s unexpected circumstances. But he knew the secret to winning the race each day: he stayed faithful to the Lord. And that is a plan that will work for us, as well.

Though it doesn’t always seem like it, God won’t give us more than we can handle, though we may need to rely on Him, and not just ourselves. That’s why it’s vital to spend time with Him daily. When you start to feel overwhelmed, go ahead and take a quick peek behind you. (Just don’t linger in the past!) See how far you’ve come. Then focus on the finish line ahead of you, where God is waiting and rooting you on! Remain faithful to Him and keep moving forward.

Lord, help me to keep my focus on You and the course You have laid out before me. Amen.

Have a blessed day. Gentle hugs to all of you. ?
