Hope-Filled Sunday!
Happy Sunday! Here’s some encouragement for your week.
I love the movie The Lion King. And one of my favorite scenes is when Rafiki tells Simba to forget what he is worrying about because it’s in the past. While I love the scene, and I agree with what the wise Rafiki is saying, I don’t always do a great job of following his advice. In fact, my husband likes reminding me of this very scene, while playfully tapping me on the head (similar to Rafiki’s actions), on occasion. And it’s good that he does, because not looking back, or living in the past, is what we’re called to do.
I do believe that there is much to learn from the past. But there’s little doubt that history repeating itself is not often a good thing. And since we can’t go back and change the past, it does us little good to continue to try living there. I once heard that the windshield in the car is much larger than the rear-view mirror for a reason: we’re to look forward more than we look back.
It’s hard to leave the familiar. And change isn’t something most people truly enjoy. To get to where God want us to be, where He's lined up for us, we have to keep moving forward. Share on X And since God is trustworthy, we can move forward in confidence, knowing that He’s already paved the way for us.
Lord, help us to look forward to what You have lined up for our future and never look back with regret. Amen.
Have a blessed day. Gentle hugs to all of you. ?
