Hope-filled Sunday!
Happy Sunday! Here’s some encouragement for your week.
After the past couple years, I’m pretty sure most people will agree that life is hard to understand. We all have certain expectations about how our life is going to turn out. For most people, it rarely goes as planned.
Growing up, I wanted to be a writer. Decades later, that’s what I’m doing. But, was being a writer with chronic pain and illness part of that plan? No, it certainly was not. Yet, here I am. Do I understand why this is the path my life took? No, I do not. But I know that it wasn’t a surprise to the Lord. And I’m certain that the detour didn’t alter His plans at all.
That’s how it was for Job. In the Bible, Job 1-2 shows a series of setbacks that Job encountered. He was seen as “blameless and upright” (Job 1:1), yet that didn’t prevent him from encountering difficulties and tragedies. His life didn’t go as planned, just like ours. Job’s wife encouraged him to “curse God and die!” (Job 2:9) Though he may have had good reason to do just that, he didn’t. He knew that followers of Christ weren’t guaranteed a life free from trials. Job continued to trust in God and remain faithful, even though he didn’t understand how God was working in his life at that time.
We can use Job as an example to keep the faith during life’s difficult days. God was faithful to Job, and He'll be faithful to us, as well. Share on X
Lord, help me to trust You, even when I can’t understand Your plan. Amen.
Have a blessed day. Gentle hugs to all of you. ?
