Hope-Filled Sunday!
Happy Sunday! Here’s some encouragement for your week.
We all know how important sleep is. And when you live with chronic pain and illness, it’s even more important, as lack of sleep can fuel our issues. Sadly, I can’t even begin to remember the last time I slept soundly. Every night, I toss and turn, struggling to find a semi-comfortable position. And my mind? That’s another story all together, as it seems to do its best work when I want to be asleep. Can you relate?
On nights where getting any amount of sleep feels impossible, Psalm 3:5-6 is one I turn to. Along with praying to try and cast my cares on the Lord, I repeat this verse to myself. Over and over again until I eventually fall asleep. (And on the occasions this verse alone doesn’t work for me, I throw in some worship song lyrics that remind me I have no reason to fear or stress because the Lord is with me.)
This same practice is useful during waking hours, as well. While worries don't automatically disappear with praise and worship, their power is certainly zapped by God's presence. Share on XBy praising God, we can find the needed strength to get through the day (and night) and face any problem along the way. Then we won’t be as inclined to attempt to sort those issues out when we should be sleeping.
Lord, help me remember that I can find peace and rest when I praise You.
