Hope-Filled Sunday!
Happy Sunday! Here’s some encouragement for your week.
The new year quickly approaches! It’s hard to believe that’s it’s almost 2022. It seems like just yesterday we were preparing to start 2021 … yet, in some ways, it seems so much longer. Don’t you agree?
Most of us look forward to Christmas. Do you approach the new year, which quickly follows the blessed event, the same way? Do you look forward to it in anticipation of the many opportunities that await? Or do you long to hold onto what’s familiar?
Not that we really have much choice. The new year will come whether we're prepared for it or not. So why not look at it as a fresh start? The first page in a new book. Share on X
Are you someone who sets goals for the upcoming year? If so, consider adding some of the following to your goals for 2022.
- Set a spiritual goal to read the entire Bible. If you’ve done this before, try reading a different translation or using a thematic “read through the Bible” guide.
- Challenge yourself to learn something new, be it a hobby, an online class, a new language, etc.
- Establish some emotional goals, such as forgiveness or patience (with others and yourself!).
- Finally, think about adding in some physical goals, such as walking a certain amount of steps each day or cutting back on sweets.
Whatever you decide to do, take them to the Lord. Ask Him to help you with setting the goals, as well.
Lord, help me make the new year the best it can be, and show me the plans You’d like me to establish for 2022 that will bring glory and honor to You. Amen.
Have a blessed day. Gentle hugs to all of you. ?

I enjoyed your posts and suggestions. I like the reminder to set goals such as forgiveness. My “word” for 2022 is actually “two words:” Press on.
It comes from Philippians, But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 3:13-14 ESV)
Thanks, Brian.
Great choice for your “word.” I’ve done phrases before, as well.
That’s some of my favorite verses. (I love so many verses in Philippians.)
All the best for 2022!
