Hope-filled Sunday!
Happy Sunday! Here’s some encouragement for your week.
“Why, God?” This is a question I’ve certainly asked on more than one occasion.
I’ve lived with chronic pain and illness for over half of my life. Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time questioning God. And after this past year—with the pandemic, increased anxiety and pain, and numerous new symptoms arising—those questions have increased. Perhaps you’ve questioned Him, as well. Does questioning God mean that you lack faith? Share on X No, it means that you are human.
It’s natural to have questions, even if those questions are directed toward God. In today’s verse, Gideon questioned God. Gideon wasn’t condemned as a result. God didn’t tell Gideon that his questions were stupid or that God was too busy to answer them. Instead, God worked with Gideon to build his faith. And even though he had questions and doubts, Gideon trusted God and moved forward.
Gideon can be an example to us. He demonstrates that, as Christians, we’re not promised a life without challenges, pain, and trials. But we are assured of the fact that we will not have to go through them alone.
We can be honest with God, no matter the struggle (doubts, fears, etc.) He already knows what we’re thinking, and He understands everything we’re going through. He’s right there with us. With that in mind, we have no need to falter when it comes to trusting God with everything, including our pain, our day, and our future.
Lord, sustain us when we have doubts about our uncertain circumstances. Give us the courage and faith to move forward and follow you in spite of those questions. Amen.
Have a blessed day. Gentle hugs to all of you. ?
So thankful we can go to God with our doubts and questions. What a loving and compassionate God who helps us through our doubts. Thank you for sharing!
You’re very welcome. I agree, Carla. Such a blessing, indeed.
