Lethal Cover-Up

By Darlene L. Turner

Publisher: Love Inspired Suspense

Blurb…

Some secrets are dangerous… But uncovering the truth could be deadly.

Border patrol officer Madison Steele knows her sister Leah’s fatal car crash was no accident. Someone’s willing to kill to cover up a pharmaceutical company’s deadly crime of distributing tainted drugs. Now they are after Madison to tie off loose ends. But with her high school sweetheart, Canadian police constable Tucker Reed, at her side, can Madison expose the company’s deadly plan before she becomes the next victim?

Excerpt…

They’re coming back.

“Hold on!” Tucker sped up and maneuvered into the right lane, dodging around another car.

The truck copied his moves and accelerated into the left lane beside them. Their window opened and a rifle appeared.

“Gun!” Madison yelled.

Tucker hit the brakes, and the cruiser’s tires screeched. The vehicle swerved as he fought to maintain control.

Madison pointed to an upcoming exit. “Take that road! We need to get off the busy highway and not endanger lives.”

Tucker sped up, and at the last minute he steered onto the ramp, catching the assailants off guard. The F-150 missed the exit and raced down the road. Tucker radioed his fellow officers, giving them the vehicle’s description  and where the truck was last seen.

Madison exhaled. “Close call. What do you think they wanted?”

“You.”

“What? Why?”

“You became a target as soon as you found that thumb drive. I’m guessing the people in the truck were the same ones who fired on us earlier. They’re watching us.”

My review…

Turner’s latest is a fact-paced page turner with enough twists and turns to keep the reader engaged and guessing until the end. This is my favorite book of hers thus far. Characters are well crafted and relatable. The faith element is woven throughout, and it’s not overpowering. I appreciated the fact that Madison had a career I don’t often read about (Border Patrol). Overall, I found it to be a quick read, as I wanted to know what happened!

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn’t required to leave a positive review.
