Life with Chronic Pain and Illness
For some time, I’ve been sharing Life with Chronic Pain and Illness posts on my Instagram page (www.instagram.com/hopeamidthepain). These are tips that people, particularly those living with chronic pain and illness, may find helpful. I decided to start sharing them here on my blog, as well.
When you live with chronic pain and illness, you’re likely to see a variety of medical providers. And you quickly learn that all providers are not created equally.
It’s important to find someone you feel comfortable enough with to ask questions and express your concerns. Asking others for references can be quite helpful. (I’ve actually found some of the my best doctors through support groups.) And, of course, it’s important to check with your insurance company.
Keep in mind that, in most cases, there’s more than one provider option, so you don’t need to stay with someone who doesn’t listen or, even worse, belittles you and discounts your concerns and personal experience. Medical gaslighting is all too real and way too common, unfortunately.
Do you have any providers that are worth their weight in gold? If so, yay! I hope you are able to continue seeing them for as long as needed. If not, I pray you can find someone who is.
   I hope you have a blessed, low-pain day.Â
