Life with Chronic Pain and Illness
Life with chronic pain and illness is a challenge, and it can cause us to do a number of things that just aren’t beneficial … things we must learn to stop. Everyone needs to set boundaries, and that’s particularly true for those of us who live with chronic pain and illness. Here are just a few things to stop doing so you can focus on doing your best to take care of yourself:Â
- Stop apologizing for things that are beyond your control.
- Stop feeling guilty for cancelling appointments or taking time to rest.
- Stop feeling like a burden for asking for help.
- Stop expecting people to check in on you.
- Stop waiting for energy levels to be like they used to be.
- Stop trying to get people to understand.
- Stop pretending that everything is fine.
Is there anything you’d add to this list?
I hope you have a low-pain day.Â
