Life with Chronic Pain and Illness
Today’s Life with Chronic Pain and Illness tip is a truth that’s still hard for me to wrap my head around at times: No longer feeling like yourself.
Growing up, you probably had many plans and dreams for your life. If you’re like most people, you saw some of them come to fruition. I'd venture to guess that you never dreamed of a life where you lived with chronic pain, struggling to just do the most basic tasks to get through a day. Share on X Yet that might be where you now find yourself. I know it certainly wasn’t in my plans, and I never expected to not be “cured” or “fixed” a few decades later.
Sadly, I don’t have a “quick fix” to reinventing yourself. While I know that God has a plan for everything, including my pain, it’s not always easy to accept in the flare-up moments. And it’s difficult to think about some of the dreams I had that needed to be set aside because they’re things I can no longer physically do. Granted, there are other activities that have come along to bring me joy and fulfillment, but it’s still hard at times to not go to those “What-if” places in my mind. Perhaps you can relate to not feeling like yourself. The only advice I can offer, and one I need to remind myself of, is that God is using everything for His good … and that includes my, and your, chronic pain and illness. I just need to trust that He still has a plan for me, and He has one for you, as well.
I hope you have a blessed, low-pain day.
