Life with Chronic Pain and Illness
For some time, I’ve been sharing Life with Chronic Pain and Illness posts on my Instagram page (www.instagram.com/hopeamidthepain). These are tips that people, particularly those living with chronic pain and illness, may find helpful. I decided to start sharing them here on my blog, as well.
Life with chronic pain and illness can sometimes feel like you’re taking one step forward and multiple steps back. You may not be able to do what you used to do, and it’s frustrating. (Trust me! I’ve been reminding myself of this a lot lately.) But it’s important to remember that when you take a step forward, it’s still one step forward, no matter how small it may be.
I’ve found it beneficial to look at what task I’d like to do (in the long run) and break it into multiple, small tasks. Even if I only make progress on one of those steps, it’s still one step forward that wasn’t there yesterday.
Try not to focus on the final outcome too much, as it can lead to stress and frustration in the moment. Instead, celebrate the small wins (because that’s what they are). And YES! It’s okay to cheer yourself on! (And when you do, know that I’m there cheering with you, and so is God!).
I hope you have a low-pain day.
