Life with Chronic Pain and Illness

Life with chronic pain and illness is extremely difficult, especially since so many of the diagnoses are for “invisible illnesses.” However, for anyone living with a chronic illness, they know that it is anything but invisible. Here are just some examples:

  • You can’t see how challenging it is to do the simplest daily tasks.
  • You can’t see the way our body battles against us.
  • You can’t see how much we fear being judged for what we can or can’t do.
  • You can’t see how much our heart breaks when we are no longer able to do things we loved to do.
  • You can’t see how often we feel overlooked or that we are a burden.
  •  You can’t see the internal conflict of canceling  anticipated events because our bodies tell us it’s no longer possible … or the heartache associated with watching others do the activity without us.
  • You can’t see all the times we push through the pain, often because we don’t want to disappoint others.
  • You can’t see how hard it is to stay hopeful and positive when your body, and perhaps mind, is telling you otherwise.
  • You can’t see how much it means to us when we find someone who tries to understand what we are going through.

Is there anything you’d like to add to the list? Feel free to leave a comment.

I hope you have a low-pain day.
