I write devotionals and I love reading them from others. I have quite a collection of devotional books, and I was excited to have a chance to read and review this book.
Lusko’s book is encouraging and thought-provoking. It provides an opportunity for the reader to identify and reflect on what could be holding them back. Simple, relatable stories are used, and they’re likely to connect with most readers in some way.
There are forty devotions, and they’re divided into daily and weekly themes. These include: Look in the Mirror, Turn off the Dark, Cross the Barbed Wire, Run Toward the Roar, Be the Difference, and Think Right, Live Right.
As is common with devotional books, there are Scripture verses, reflections questions, and positive affirmations. Breathe, Think, and Live is a section for personal reflection. I do wish the book had included some space for journaling, but it doesn’t. The reader will need a separate notebook for this purpose.
The book is a manageable size with a hard cover and attached ribbon bookmark. The author used a variety of translations for the Scripture verses (including NKJV, KJV, The Message, ESV, NASB, NIV, and NLT).
