Welcome to Thankful Thursday: His Encouragement. I am blessed to be part of a group of bloggers who’ll be sharing a bit of encouragement through Scripture verses. I hope this post blesses you as you finish the week and that you find peace, strength, and comfort in the Lord.
Fear and anxiety have been dominating the world the past few weeks and months. People are getting sick and dying, and the numbers continue to rise daily. The uncertainty of Covid-19 (Cornovirus) is impacting just about every aspect of our daily lives. Entire countries are on lockdown with all businesses and events closed, and the US has declared a national emergency. The mixed messages we’re hearing about the virus and how it’s spread from various sources adds to the confusion. It’s no surprise that so many people are fearful.
However, God doesn’t want us to be fearful, and there are many verses that remind us of that. We’re told in John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!” (NIV)
And, we’re not left to do battle—of any kind—alone. Jesus is with us, through any and every storm we face … even Covid-19 (Cornovirus). He’s our Savior, Protector, Healer, and so much more. With Him in our lives, we always have hope! Put your hope in God. He won’t let you down.
God allowed His Son to die for us so we wouldn’t be alone. Don’t confuse God’s character with life’s circumstances. He is good, all the time!
Some may question how a “good God” could allow bad things to happen. We will never know the answer to that until we reach Heaven. But, we can trust that God has a purpose for everything … even this. As it states in Hebrews 13:5, “God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’” (NIV)
As a Christ-follower, my trust is ultimately in Him. However, as someone who battles chronic illness, I’m in a high-risk category. I will do my best to follow the recommendations set by the CDC and medical community … and I hope those around me, as well as anyone reading this, do the same. I will continue to pray, particularly that this virus passes quickly, and look to God, the Great Physician.
I wish you all good health and God’s peace that passes all understanding.
I love your post today! I especially loved this piece: “God allowed His Son to die for us so we wouldn’t be alone. Don’t confuse God’s character with life’s circumstances. He is good, all the time!” Amen to this Truth!!!
I will be praying for you and your health!!
Thanks, Nicole!
Prayers and blessings to you, as well.
Great post today! So relevant right now <3
Thanks, Becca.
BEAUTIFUL!
The verse I’m resting in today is:
Psalm 37:4-6 New International Version (NIV)
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
It’s GREAT to know He is in total control and It’s GREAT to know He is a good God!
Thank you!
Oh, that’s a wonderful verse, too!
Yes, it’s great to know He’s in control … always, and especially when things feel so out of control.
