Thankful Thursday: His Encouragement #15

Welcome to Thankful Thursday: His Encouragement.

I am blessed to be part of a group of bloggers who’ll be sharing a bit of encouragement through Scripture verses. I hope this post blesses you as you finish the week and that you find peace, strength, and comfort in the Lord.

Genesis 9:13

I’m continuing my series of sharing two verses from each book of the Bible. This will conclude my devotions on Genesis.

I enjoy the peace found in a spring or summer rain. But what I enjoy even more is when I’m able to find a rainbow after the rain — something I’ve enjoyed since I was a child. (However, back then, I believed stories of finding a leprechaun and his pot of gold at the end of it 😉 )

In Sunday school, we learned the meaning behind rainbows and how they are God’s promise to us. Sin caused God to pour out His judgment on the earth through rain. He used the rainbow to show His grace and mercy. It was a reminder that He would never again destroy the world with water. The rainbow is a symbol, visible sign, of God's covenant with His beloved creation. Share on XSo the next time you see a rainbow, go ahead and admire the beauty of it. But also see it as a comforting reminder of God’s never-ending grace, mercy, and love.

Lord, help us to never stop being in awe of You and Your unconditional love for us.

What Scripture is encouraging you today? Share it in the comments.

God is so good to give us this visual reminder of both his love and his power!

  2. When I see a rainbow, I think of the mercy or God. He has subjected the oceans to not pass his limit and he allows the rain to fall wherever he wants. What a merciful God, even if we have floods there will never be a universal flood because God always keep his promises. Im thankful today that I can always depend on his word.

    • So true, Keneesha. With all the uncertainty in the world, it’s wonderful to know that we can always depend on God and His promises!

  3. I reflect on the character of God and the magnitudes of His promises whenever I see a rainbow. Praise the Lord!
