Welcome to Thankful Thursday: His Encouragement.
I am blessed to be part of a group of bloggers who’ll be sharing a bit of encouragement through Scripture verses. I hope this post blesses you as you finish the week and that you find peace, strength, and comfort in the Lord.
This month, my focus will be on Deuteronomy. Today, I’m sharing a devotion about Deuteronomy 6:5.
This is one of my favorite verses. It pretty much says it all, doesn’t it? It sounds so simple: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Share on X Christ followers know that’s not always as easy at it sounds.
Life throws curveballs our way (and 2020 has had more than enough of them!). The enemy uses distraction to turn our attention from the easy-to-follow instructions found in Deuteronomy 6:5. The Lord didn’t make it complicated or something that we’d never be able to achieve. One of the basic things we’re all capable of doing is love. Unfortunately, that’s not always evident in today’s society. But, if you look closely, you’ll still find it. And God sees it, as well.
The heart is the center—the core—of every human being. The heart governs our will and emotions. It is the often the foundation of our choices. God desires a personal relationship with each of us: a heart-to-heart relationship.
Do believers follow the Word out of duty, or is the Word in their hearts, and thus their actions follow? Share on XWhat God most desires is our hearts. He wants us to know His Word, to follow His Word, and to love Him with all of our being: with our heart, soul, and strength. If we do that, everything else will fall neatly into place.
