Welcome to Thankful Thursday: His Encouragement.
I am blessed to be part of a group of bloggers who’ll be sharing a bit of encouragement through Scripture verses. I hope this post blesses you as you finish the week and that you find peace, strength, and comfort in the Lord.
Today, I’m sharing a devotion about 1 Kings 19:12.
Elijah was a well-respected prophet. He was a man of God. He had witnessed the power of God in many ways others had never seen. He obeyed God.
Yet, like us, Elijah struggled in his relationship with the Lord. Even so, God cared for and provided for Elijah.
God doesn’t always answer us when, or in the ways, we expect. Like Elijah, we may be waiting for the big, booming voice coming from an earthquake or fire. But that’s rarely the case. Instead, it’s far more common for God to speak to us in a whisper— one that might be hard to discern in life’s noisy busyness.
If we expect to hear the gentle voice of God, we must be silent. Share on XWe may think God’s not speaking to us. In reality, the more likely truth is that we are failing to listen. Failing to get silent before Him.
Lord, thank You for loving us. Help us quiet our minds and lives so we can hear what You want to say to us today. Amen.
