Time for a Book Update!

It’s been about a month since I posted about my book’s progress, and I have some exciting book news to share with all of you.

A couple months ago, I sent my manuscript to an editor I met at a conference last year. A few days ago, I received positive feedback from them. They also said that they are interested in seeing a proposal. (Insert a Happy Dance here 😀 )

I’ve been working on my proposal slowly but surely. Over the past few months, I’ve kept busy with a number of editing projects, so my own book-related work has been pushed aside. However, that’s no longer the case, as there are a lot of exciting things on the horizon!

First and foremost is finishing the proposal and sending it to the above-mentioned editor ASAP! After that’s done, I’m not sure how long it will take to hear back on whether or not they’re interested. I would expect it to take a few months.

In June, I’ll be participating in two different Twitter pitches. For these, I’ll tweet a brief “hook” for my book and pray that an editor, agent, or publisher is intrigued and interested enough to contact me and request further information (such as my proposal).

My manuscript is now complete. I have a list of Christian authors who have graciously agreed to read my book. I sent copies out to them earlier this week for endorsement quotes and reviews. These will be listed in my proposal, which will be shared with the publishers I query. And, I plan to start querying publishers in June and July. The thought of this is still a bit scary, but it’s also very exciting!

While I’ve been following the stay-at-home orders, things with my book have been rolling along. I’m definitely feeling blessed with all the Lord has been doing the past few months. I am excited to see what He has lined up for my “book baby.” And, when I know anything new, I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
