Tuesday Tip
Today’s Tuesday Tip is one that is definitely a work in progress for me: Be patient with yourself, and give yourself some grace.
I don’t know about you, but I struggle with this. I set very high standards for myself, and I’m quite hard on myself when I (no surprise!) fail to meet them. Are you guilty of this, too?
If so, you’re in good company. It’s quite common for people to do this. It’s difficult to admit that, no matter how hard we try, we aren’t perfect … and we never will be. (Only one person fits that description: Jesus!)
Being patient with ourselves is recognizing, and admitting, that we’re human. We’re imperfect … and that’s okay! It’s important to focus on progress vs. perfection and choose to treat ourselves with compassion and grace (just like we’d do to others). Give yourself the benefit of the doubt. In short, it comes down to this:
Treat yourself as well as you'd treat your friends and loved ones. Share on X
Here are a few ways to do this:
- accept that it’s okay to not be perfect
- practice gratitude
- silence the negative self-talk
- learn to laugh at the situation (and yourself)
- be like Elsa, and let it go
Is this something you struggle with? Do you have anything to add to that list?
I hope you have a blessed day.
