Tuesday Tip
Today’s Tuesday Tip is an important one that I’m putting into practice for this month. Actually, it’s one I’ve needed to do for some time, and I’m finally listening to my body (or at least trying to!) … and that’s the tip: Listen to Your Body!
Â
I’ve always been someone who finds it difficult to relax. I’ve used a to-do list for as long as I can remember. Checking things off that list feels great! But what doesn’t feel great is pushing myself to try and do everything by myself. Or overloading my schedule with all the ideal things I’d like to do, but not being okay with leaving things unfinished. Trying to carry things that aren’t mine to carry, instead of leaving them in God’s hands. I’ve been doing all this, and more, for way too long. And my body is screaming at me. ? And it’s been brought to my attention lately (by numerous people) that it’s important to listen to my body and give it what it wants: a break. Time to just be. To relax. To stop pushing myself to do what I think others want me to do, what my mind perceives I “need to” do, vs. what God is asking me to do.
Â
As I mentioned in my #lifewithchronicpainandillness post last Friday, I am trying to listen to my body, as well as God. This all means that I need to cut back. And that’s what I am going to do this month (perhaps longer). I sense God telling me that I need to shift my focus and prioritize self-care. After all, if we can’t be there for ourselves, how can we ever be there for others? (The answer? We can’t!) Even considering this change is uncomfortable, as it goes against what I’ve done most of my life. But, nevertheless, it’s what I need to do at this time. Therefore, I may be a bit more sporadic in some of my blog posts (such as not doing #HopeFilledSunday for a time). I won’t be online as much, but I’ll still be checking in, making short posts, and offering encouragement. You all will still be in my prayers. I’m not going away, just cutting back.
I hope you have a blessed day.
