Blurb…

Someone’s after a deadly weapon…

and only she can stop them.

It’s undercover ATF agent Randee Jareau’s job to make sure the government’s 3-D printed “ghost gun” doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. So when someone goes after scientist Ace Steele, she must protect him…before she loses the undetectable weapon and its creator. But with a mole inside Ace’s company and everyone a suspect, this assignment could become Randee’s last.

The story behind the story…

One of my favorite parts of writing a new book is the research behind the story. The idea for an ATF series came after I attended a full-day conference with members of the ATF courtesy of the Kiss of Death Chapter in my hometown of Denver, Colorado. The ATF talked about the different roles and responsibilities within the agency. Shortly thereafter, Untraceable Evidence was born as book one in my ATF series.

Researching 3D printer guns was fascinating, and as with many of my stories, I begin with “What if”. What if a 3D printer gun was created deliberately without the components required in the Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988? The Act, in a nutshell, states it is illegal to create or possess a firearm that is not detectable by a metal detector. That got me to thinking. What if the gun was completely untraceable? Developed entirely without the mandated metal? And that’s where Untraceable Evidence began.

My review…

Stover’s latest is a roller coaster ride of unexpected twists and turns. Ace isn’t your typical hero, but you can’t help but like him and root for him and Randee. Questions keep the reader guessing along with the characters.

I don’t know a lot about 3D printers, but over the past few months, I’ve heard a lot about them and all they can do. So I found that to be an extremely intriguing, though somewhat scary, part of this plot. Secondary characters are also well-drawn and integrated.

If you’re a fan of romantic suspense stories, this is one to check out. It includes a nice mix of mystery and danger with a touch of romance (that isn’t overwhelming). There is also an underlying message that reminds the reader about God’s love and grace.

One of my favorite quotes: “More than anything, God loves you, Ace. Nothing you could do or have done will ever change that.”

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn’t required to leave a positive review.

3-D printers both fascinate and frighten me. They seem so useful, and enhance creativity. But it seems there can be a dark side as well! Can’t wait to read this book!

  2. Jackie Layton

Sharee, congratulations on Untraceable Evidence! Another great romantic suspense!

  3. Hi Leslie and Sharee! I completely agree with Leslie about Untraceable Evidence…surprising twists and a scary premise. Sharee, your suspense is so well done. I couldn’t tell who would be revealed in this crime. You know how to do your research. Congratulation on another stunning LIS romance!

    • Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Sherida. Feel free to still enter, even though you’ve read the book.

    • Sherida, thank you sooooo much! I’m thrilled that you enjoyed the story and that I was able to keep you guessing. That’s one of my favorite parts of suspense 🙂

3D printing is a marvel–so many people as well as animals have been helped in the medical field alone.

  5. Connie Carpenter

Technology helps us in some ways. And hurts us like the untraceable stuff. This sounds so good

    • Very true! It’s great what can be done with technology when it’s used for good.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Good luck, Connie!

    • Hi Connie! It’s true, there’s two sides to everything and in the wrong hands, it creates havoc. At least in Untraceable Evidence’s case 🙂

  6. Lynn Brown

There was something in the news a while back about 3D guns and that was a problem. So the story would be an interesting read

  7. I love all of Sharee’s books, and Untraceable Evidence definitely does not disappoint. I loved the story from beginning to end. Good job, Sharee! I can’t wait for your next book.

  8. Merry

I think it’s both impressive and innovative. My husband is in the scientific field and they love testing new concepts.

  9. Sonnetta Jones

I love that quote. It is so simple but hard to trust and believe. We struggle to see ourselves through God’s eyes so He has to remind us that His love is not based on what we do or don’t do.

    • So true! It’s an important reminder, for sure.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Sonnetta. Good luck!

  10. Kara Marks

I think it’s both cool and a bit scary what all can be done w 3D printers.

    • I agree, Kara. Technology can certainly be amazing, especially when used for good.

Good luck, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  11. Trudy

I think it’s fascinating! I’m sorry it’s a gun; however, UCF is using 3D printers to make arms and legs for children, so that is wonderful!

    • Oh, that’s wonderful about UCF. I agree that it’s fascinating, especially if used for good.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Trudy. Good luck!

At first, I thought that 3-D printers sounded fantastic, then I started thinking about it & wondered why they were needed. I heard people have made masks with them. That’s a good use, but usually you hear about people using them to make guns. I think more of them would be made to commit crimes than for self-defense, & 3-D guns go undetected through airport/courthouse screenings. Can they be used to create workable human organs? That would really be fantastic!

    • Hmm, that’s interesting about organs. It does make you wonder. You’re correct that you generally see them being used for crimes vs. for good, unfortunately.

Good luck, and thanks for visiting my blog, Irene!
