Tuesday Tip

Many people with chronic illness live with brain fog. In today’s Tuesday Tip, I wanted to offer a few options to help you deal with this. I have ten tips, and I’ll be sharing them over the course of two posts (this one and another on April 30, 2024).

  • Lists and notes: These are your friends! love my sticky notes! And I have them everywhere with reminders of my reminders 😉 They can help you stay focused on some of the most important things you need to remember for the day.
  • Planners and calendars: In addition to lists and notes, these can keep track of your various appointments, as well as the tasks you need, or want, to get done each day. These are great because they come in a variety of forms, from print calendars you hang to planners you can carry in your bag or keep on your desk to ones that can alert you on your phone, smartwatch, or computer. (And if you’re anything like me, you use many of these options!)
  • Keep a routine: Stick to a routine as much as possible. It can keep you from asking those “what do I do next?” questions. Less spoons are needed when you are doing routine tasks on a regular basis without having to consider them as much.
  • Break up tasks: By breaking down tasks, it makes them more manageable, which makes them less likely to stir up anxiety. Smaller tasks can also conserve spoons.
  • Don’t multitask: This is one that was hard for me, as I’ve always been someone who likes to keep busy. However, over the past couple years, I’ve found trying to multitask not only ineffective but also next to impossible. One positive of this is that I now do a much better job of “staying in the moment.”

These are just a few tips to get you started. I’ll share five more in a post on April 30, 2024.

I hope you have a blessed, low-pain day.
