Life with Chronic Pain and Illness
Life with chronic pain and illness is a struggle, but it’s also full of ironies. For instance:
- You look fine, but you know you’re anything but fine.
- You need to rest, but you resist resting because it makes you look like you’re not trying hard enough.
- You want to be independent, so you refuse to ask for help when needed.
- You fight to get through the day while your body fights itself.
- You’re thankful for being alive, but you still grieve the life and dreams you thought you’d have.
- You make extensive plans well in advance for something you’re super excited about, only to have to cancel at the last minute.
- You’re absolutely exhausted, but you can’t sleep, or, if you do, it’s unrefreshing.
- You put on a brave front while you’re falling apart inside.
Is there anything you’d add to this list? Feel free to share it in the comments.
I hope you have a low-pain day.
