Life with Chronic Pain and Illness

Today’s Life with Chronic Pain and Illness tip is one that’s good for everyone: Know the importance of saying “no.”

I don’t know about you, but it’s difficult for me to say “no”—to others and myself. I hate feeling like I’ve let someone down, be it others, myself, or even God. But I’ve learned recently the importance of doing so. Prioritizing self-care and setting healthy boundaries helps reduce pain, and it can even help prevent burnout. If you don’t learn to be there for yourself, a day will come when you won’t be able to be there for others, either. We can't be everything to everyone all the time without burning out. Click To TweetIt’s all about finding a balance that works for you. Don’t let others make you feel guilty for taking some “me time.” Decide what is truly yours to hold on to, then let go of the rest. Give it a try today. And give yourself the same empathy you’d give to others.
Is this an area where you struggle? Or is it something you’ve gotten better at doing over the years?
I hope you have a blessed, low-pain day.
