My review…

I’ve been a fan of Anne Wilson since the first time I heard her song “My Jesus.” The album is wonderful and inspiring, and I was definitely interested in reading this book to learn more about the story behind the powerful hit song.

Wilson shares details of growing up in Kentucky with two older siblings and a faith-filled community. She is open in the details surrounding the tragic death of her brother Jacob and its impact on her and her family. The author reveals how God spoke to her and changed the direction of her life forever. This incident is the basis behind “My Jesus.”

This is an emotional book, and the reader will feel the pain and grief the family endured, as well as see God’s hand at work. This book, along with Wilson’s music, will surely touch many people and bring them closer to God in the process. Wilson is encouraging and relatable, and she makes the reader feel like she’s speaking just to them.

One of my favorite quotes: “Whatever you are feeling, God can handle it—all of it. The
tears, screams, and questions. God invites you to let Him tend to your heart.”- Anne Wilson

My Jesus weaves together Anne’s personal story with an encouraging message to anyone longing for God to wipe away their tears. Discover the beauty that can emerge from suffering as you read Anne’s story of growing closer to the God who always makes a way.

Whether you are facing loss or disappointment, My Jesus comes alongside you to:
• show how God can bring purpose out of loss,
• offer hope in the midst of heartbreak, and
• remind you that God never abandons you.
